Baches and Beach Houses

New Zealanders have a holiday tradition of going to the "Bach" (pronounced batch like catch with a "b" instead of the "c") or holiday home for any holiday. The Bach is just another word for holiday home or in different parts of the world Beach house. The word "bach" comes from the word bachelor. New Zealand Baches are houses or homes usually a Bungalow (single level dwelling) in some beautiful and tranquil areas of scenic New Zealand that the ordinary New Zealander uses to escape the cities. These houses usually provide cooking utensils and sometimes bedding, but you would provide everything else. Most are independently owned and used by the owning family at different times of the year, then rented out for the rest.

Bookings in NZ are advised from the beginning of November until the end of March.
