Shree Durga Mata ki Chowki

Auckland, New Zealand., June 26, 2012 - Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust is organising 'Shree Durga Mata ki Chowki' on Friday 13th July 2012 at Mahatma Gandhi Centre, 145 Eden Terrace from 5:30 PM onwards.The event is a fund-raiser for supporting the Aashirwad Rest Home Project, a culturally appropriate old age home for the South Asian Community elders living in New Zealand Bhartiya Samaj has identified through extensive surveys, that there is an urgent need to acquire a rest home specifically catering to the cultural needs of the community elders. The existing rest homes in New Zealand cater to the needs of Kiwi Community in general. It must be treated as a moral responsibility to ensure that elders live happily in the final years of their lives. Bhartiya Samaj endeavors to set up an Old Age Home specially designed to nurture South Asian communities, intended to fulfill the cultural needs of the respected elders which seem to be missing in the existing rest homes. The “Culturally Appropriate Old Age Home” will ensure that the elders have access to doctors, nurses and caregivers who can understand their language and respective cultural values, the residents have culturally appropriate handling especially of the females, home cooked food is available specially the type of food they have been eating all their lives. It will also ensure that there is no lack of companionship, the issue language barrier is eliminated as people around will understand each other. It also take care that regional entertainment is provided with the installation of the popular Indian TV channels, movies etc. Specific arrangements are proposed for visits to worship places on a weekly basis. Finally the elders would not miss out on the popular festivals as arrangement will be made for them to participate. The "Shree Durga Mata ki Chowki" is a fund-raising event for the Culturally appropriate old age home project. All proceeds from this fund raiser would go towards the fulfilment of this noble project. Bhartiya Samaj requests for generous 'DONATIONs' towards this noble project. Bhartiya Samaj has laid an open invitation for all to come to the event along with their family, friends and loved ones to seek the blessings of 'Durga Mata' About Bhartiya Samaj: Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust has been serving the community since 1995. It was founded by Mr. Jeet Suchdev QSM JP along with Ms. Roopa Suchdev QSM. We are the largest multi-faith South Asian Group in the whole of Auckland with over 1000+ members on record. The Organisations Mission is to help and support people of Indian Origin who are settled and also those who have newly migrated to New Zealand, by means of various community development and awareness activities. The primary objective of the organisation is to ensure that people of the community are benefited by the various activities and programs undertaken on a regular basis. It also ensures to foster friendly relations among the community members, by catering to their social, cultural and emotional needs through regular programs and activities.
